Bactronix treats mold, bacteria and odor with one EPA-registered product, applied by one process. The product is BactroKill Plus, EPA Reg. No. 82972-1-90746. The process is called Bactronizing: an electrostatic sprayer charges the droplets so they wrap around a surface instead of coating only the side facing the nozzle.

The product
BactroKill Plus, EPA Reg. No. 82972-1-90746, EPA Est. No. 88276-GA-4. Its active ingredients are chlorine dioxide at 0.200 percent, plus two quaternary ammonium compounds at 0.125 percent each. Those figures are read off the jug we carry, not off a web page.
What it does:
- Controls mold and mildew on hard surfaces. It has to stay wet on the surface for ten minutes to do it.
- Kills 99.9 percent of bacteria on hard, non-porous surfaces, mixed one part to nine parts water and left wet for five minutes.
- Takes out musty, smoke and cooking odors by oxidizing them rather than covering them.
The process
Bactronix calls it Bactronizing. An electrostatic sprayer puts a charge on the droplets so they wrap around a surface instead of landing only on the side facing the nozzle, which is how the back of a duct and the underside of a coil fin get treated at all.
Cleaning comes first. You cannot treat mold you have not cleaned off, and the EPA cautions against fogging biocide into ductwork that has not been cleaned. We agree with it, which is why the product goes on last and not first.
This is treatment, not structural mold remediation. It does not fix an active leak, and moisture that is still wet can grow mold again.
What the label warns about
People ask what the warnings on the jug say, so here is the plain answer. Pesticide labels carry a signal word when the product’s toxicity calls for one: CAUTION, WARNING or DANGER. This label carries none of the three. That is a fact about the label and not a promise about your house, and it does not change how we work: we still keep people and pets out of the room while we spray it, and the room is yours again fifteen minutes later.
What we do stand behind
